ZooVentures brings interactive workshops to your Auckland school with an amazing range of exotic creatures and pets, covering many of the 'living world' curriculum topics, as well as providing inspiration for art and creative writing.
One teacher describes it as "like a zoo trip, but more hands on and no travel to organise".
Workshop topics include animal habitats, animal diversity, endangered animals, animals and the environment, pets and petcare, life cycles, food chains, creative writing, or we can tailor sessions to your theme or study topic, all featuring our extensive collection of animals. We can also just do a bit of everything and include as many animals as possible! All years and levels are catered for.
There is a high level of interaction in our sessions, students have huge lizards on their laps, see chinchillas rolling in a dustbath, hold rare tortoises, build leopard gecko habitats and many more exciting and engaging experiences.
In addition to learning about the animals themselves, we reinforce important values around kindness, respect, and empathy towards all living things, and a responsible attitude towards the environment.
From around $7 per child for hands-on workshops and around $3 for a 'look and learn' option this is great value and we come to you!
Our animal line-up includes:
giant stick insects (in season)
bearded dragon lizards
blue tongue lizards
red eared terrapins
koura (freshwater crayfish)
sea stars – 11 armed and cushion stars
green tree frogs
Chinese and Japanese fire bellied newts
